Real reason why things have been slow

I have been avoiding this entry but feel like I need to get it down since I can't keep it in anymore. Over 6 weeks ago my Grandpa (my mom's dad) went in the hospital for a double bi pass. He has been having trouble recovering and is still at the hospital. He seems to have a few good days, gets out of ICU, but then has a couple bad days and is back in the ICU. He has been doing better this last week and hopefully has had his last setback. He needs to because we have also had to deal with the news that my Nana (my mom's mom) has cancer and it is untreatable. At first we thought she would be able to beat it, then we thought with chemo this summer she could live 3-5 years, but now there is little they can do and might make it 6-8 weeks. It has been very hard on everyone and is hard to believe since she was fine a few months ago. The kind of cancer she has is still being researched and started on her lung but now spread to her brain within a matter of weeks. After going though losing someone very suddenly while in college and not having time to say goodbye I thought it would be better to know. But seeing my Nana so sad and scared and wondering why this happened to her, it's hard to know which way is better. We are all still praying for a miracle and praying that she doesn't suffer but we don't know what the next few months hold. She said to me today she doesn't know if she is going to make it to see the new baby and it's so hard to imagine her not her holding her newest great granddaughter. She has always been the most sweetest, loving, and caring person I have even known. She has touched so many lives and I know God has His plan but that doesn't make it any easier on all of us still here. So anyone that does read this, please pray that no matter what happens Nana doesn't suffer, Grandpa gets better, and we all know this is the way God planned for it to be.

Big girl at the table

We got a new kitchen table last week (finally) and Stephanie decided she wanted to sit at the table as well. She has been sitting in her booster chair at the table at work sometimes with Jack and Mia and thought she could do the same at home. She did pretty well but it was a little distracting. We know that it's time to get a booster chair for home but I'm just not ready to put the high chair away, for just a few months.

Kind of slow

Things have been kind of slow around here. Stephanie is finally feeling better but got me sick in the mean time. It is my fault since I kept saying I never get sick which is usually the case. I was rarely sick as a kid and and may get a minor cold every other winter and nothing more. So I did this to myself. I kept telling myself it was just a cold but it was more of the sore throat that has been driving me crazy because then I can't eat or sleep. I even went to the doctor thinking I had strep throat since it hurt so much. I ended up not having it and I was prescribed medication but don't want to take it since I barely like taking Tylenol while pregnant. I have a prenatal appointment tomorrow and my doctor isn't going to like that I lost weight again since I lost at my last appointment too. I was finally able to sleep more last night only to be awaken by leg cramps. I didn't get those last pregnancy but this pregnancy has been a little different. Wonder what the little one will be like.

Stephanie did go to her gymnastics exhibition since her fever broke and she was somewhat better. But she did not want to be there. She held on to me the whole time and cried. You could tell she just wasn't herself yet and was not interested in putting on a performance. Maybe next year. At least we went and tried and she wasn't the only one who didn't want to do it.

Poor little baby

Stephanie has been sick so there hasn't been much going on around here. It all started out Friday night with her getting pink eye. Not sure where it came from since we don't know anyone else who had it. So that meant she missed Mia birthday party Saturday night. She would've had a blast since it is at a new place here for parties that has all the big inflatable equipment to jump on. But as the eyes got better the fever got worse. It started at 99 but as of today it was up to 103. It was so sad yesterday since it was over 90 outside, she was on fire but was shaking and had the goose bumps. So today I took her to the doctor and she ended up having an ear infection. That little stinker is what I thought. I have taken her to the doctor at least 4 times over the last year plus with a possible ear infection. Ever since she was a little baby she always pulled on her ear. So I would take her to the doctor and everything would be fine. So today, when the doctor said and ear infection, I couldn't believe it. She hasn't been pulling on her ear at all. Hopefully the medicine will help and finally bring her fever down. At least we know what it is and she should be getting better soon. She has to because she has her gymnastics exhibition performance on Saturday. She massed her last class today and if she isn't better tonight she'll miss the optional class tomorrow. Hope she remembers what she has to do.

Climbing and Steps

Stephanie has always been very cautious and not much of a climber. She has been able to get up on our couch a couple times but gives up after a couple tries. She will get on other furniture if it is a little lower at other houses. She has had trouble walking up and down stairs. She would rather crawl up and down than try to walk it. This past week she has started to walk up some steps with some help but is still a little hesitant going down. We have a step going out our front door and 2 more single steps before you get to the driveway or grass. One is very little and she will still turn around to get down. She has figured out she can hold on to the house to get up one of the steps. She is growing up so fast and becoming a little girl. I know it will be a big help when the baby come that she can do these things but right now she is still my baby and I want her to stay little. Of course when I was feeding our bunny the other day she figured out how to get up on the containers and had no trouble climbing those. It was only once and she hasn't tried it again, but she was having fun. I don't have any pictures of her walking the steps because I am always helping her. Maybe once she gets a little more stable.

22 months old

Stephanie has become such an independent little person lately. She has always been fine on her own but now, especially with the nicer weather, she will just keep on going. She doesn't even look back to see if you are following. That means I am always chasing after her which isn't as easy as when I wasn't pregnant. It also means watching her very closely since she I'm afraid she'll just take off because she talks to everyone (the few words she does say). It's nice to see her so social but it's also worrisome. Even though she does love people she also loves to snuggle and gives hugs all the time. Well most of the time. It is very sweet and everyone loves it. Especially me. It is hard to see her growing up so fast but I understand she'll do more growing up when the baby comes and she isn't the baby anymore. Hard to think she'll be a big sister in about 10 weeks. So much for us to still do but more importantly, more just mommy and Stephanie time before it all changes.

Letting her play- gross

Today we went outside before dinner and I showed Stephanie a big worm I had found on the driveway. I just thought she would watch it but she touched it and ending up picking it up. It kept squirming around her hand and as long as she didn't try eating it I tried to let her just hold it. But as soon as I reached to get my camera she had torn it in two. So now the poor big worm was ripped in half, but to her she had two worms to hold now. She kept playing with it and I felt bad since she torn it apart, so I had her put it down and she watched it curl up and try to slide away. Then we had to go wash her hands right away since she always has her hands in her mouth. I know I use to play with bugs but that fun left a long long time ago.

Sunglasses

Stephanie has started to wear her sunglasses a little more this year instead of just chewing on them. It has only worked indoors so far but hopefully by the summer she'll wear them more. You would think she would be okay with them since she sees me wear them everyday, sunny or not. I have always had sensitive eyes so, just like my mom, I always need a pair with me no matter the weather.
