Matthew is 6 months old

Matthew is growing so fast and is such a wonderful, fun, adorable, sweet little boy. I can't believe he is 6 months old. He did great at his pictures last week and was smiles for all of them even though I had to wake him up to go. At his appointment on Monday he weighed 16lbs 10oz and 27.5 inches. It was what they measured him at when he was 4 months old but I think they measured him a little long then. Now he is 33 percentile for his weight and 84 for his height. So tall and skinny. Some of his 9 month sleepers are getting short on him already but again his 6 month onesies fit fine. This month he has found his voice. He loves to scream. He started screaming when he was hungry or tired but now he does it because he likes the sound of his voice. He can sit by himself most of the time but will fall forward or over every once in a while. He moves around either by continually rolling over or but scooting on his butt while he is sitting. He can also turn himself around when he is sitting. He has joined the girls in the tub and now we can have one quick bath. The girls like it and he likes it too.

He still has the same 2 teeth he got at the end of last month but he is eating more and more food. He loves to eat whenever he sees food or someone eating. He gets so excited. So far he has eaten pickles, corn, broccoli, cucumbers, toast, pancakes, peppers, apples, chicken, mango, cottage cheese, applesauce, avocado, banana, and carrot. His favorite is mango, cucumbers, and pickles. He will also drink some water sometimes when he eating. He still has some problems sometimes drinking but he really enjoys it. Him eating a little bit of food hasn't helped him sleep through the night yet. He will get up at least 2 times a night but I've gotten use to it and it's not too bad. It is nice to snuggle with him when he is done eating but half the time I have found myself falling asleep with him. That won't last so I'm enjoying it now. He will be so much more busy in the next 6 months. For now he pretty much stays where I put him. That's not going to last either.

Stephanie's first day of school

Stephanie started K4 on Sept 2 this year. She goes every morning which is one day more than last year. I was a little nervous because this was a new school, new teacher, new special ed teacher, and a full classroom of 21 kids. She was able to go visit the classroom last May but I didn't know what she would remember and they ended up getting a new special ed teacher so the one I was expecting was no longer there. They did have an open house the week before class began which gave me a chance to talk to both teachers and Stephanie a chance to see her classroom again.
She was all excited for her first day as she started the day after Emily went to school. We are able to have a communication notebook between home and the special ed teacher so I know what goes on during her day and how she acts at school. Then I can also tell her how the morning went and if anything is going on at home. She loves it so far and is excited to go everyday. She has only had a few little meltdowns so far but they are being to understand her more each day. I hope she continues to love to go to school and make progress.

Emily's 1st day of school

Emily sat right down to do a puzzle

Emily outside her classroom with her folder

Emily had her first day of school on Aug 30. She was so excited and I was afraid that I had started her too soon. She didn't shed a tear when Jeff and I left and was wondering why some other kids were crying. When we picked up she was full of smiles and couldn't wait to tell everyone and would love to go everyday. Each day that Stephanie goes she asks if it's her day to go to. She goes Monday and Wednesday mornings which is fine for her first year. She has 2 teachers and loves talking about what she does each day in class. She had a daddy and me night a few weeks ago and was very unsure about Jeff being there. They had to leave early because to her daddy doesn't stay at school and it wasn't going the way school is suppose to go. When we talk about what is going on in the morning when we get ready she then adds "then your going to leave me at school all by myself!?" Yes all by yourself I tell her adn she goes "yay"! She sure surprised me. I am glad she likes school and looks forward to go each week.

Vacation

Matthew in the water

We had our annual trip to the Shawano area last month and overall the kids had a blast. It started out a little rocky for Stephanie but each day she made progress. Emily had a blast playing with all her cousins and Matthew loved being held and cuddled but all his relatives. The weather was the only thing that could have been better but after the hot and humid weeks we had just been though at home without air having some 70 degree days were okay. The kids played in the water some and were able to go for some boat rides. Once we were able to get Stephanie outside she loved it and had a blast hanging outside on the boat, splashing in the water, or sitting in the sand. Emily also played in the sand, enjoyed having kids to play with, and spent a little time in the water. Matthew was able to put his feet in the sand and water once love watching watching everyone outside. Emily has so much fun that once we got home she kept asking to go back on vacation. As much as it takes Emily a while to warm up to people she loves going to parties and being around her big family. The one thing she had to look forward to once we were back from vacation was going to school. She couldn't have been more excited.
