More potty success
I figured it was time to get Emily potty trained. Especially if I wanted it done before the baby came. I known she' s been ready for awhile. I knew if I waited much longer I would regret it and then the baby would be here. So this weekend I did the same potty procedure we did with Stephanie right after Christmas. She was on board and it went great. She made it through the whole program by Sunday afternoon. She had one accident on Saturday and one yesterday. She also had one today but she was in the bathroom, just not on the toilet. Because she has the language that Stephanie doesn't have I can explain things to her and have her talk back to me I can ask her to do things that I can't with Stephanie. With Stephanie we are not suppose to use many verbal prompts (like telling her to flush the toilet) put can point if she forgets to do it. They want them to know what to do without always being told to. But with Emily I can tell her things and I am able to tell her to go potty before we go somewhere or to go when we are somewhere. She went before she had her eye doctor appointment today and Jeff said she did go (a little bit) there too. At her eye appointment we were told we need to patch a little bit again (we haven't patched since the surgery). Just 2 hrs every day now instead of 4 hours. Her left eye is still stronger so just working on that right eye. Both Jeff and Emily go back in 4 weeks but she knows I am due in just over 4 weeks so it may need to be rescheduled. But as of now I am pretty much diaper free, except for nap and bedtime, but I will take that for now. She did great this weekend. Way to go Emily!

Emily's purse
For the last few months Emily has needed to have her purse with her at all times and takes it everywhere, in and out of the house. It started out with her carrying a screwdriver and chapstick around. One day she asked for a screwdriver so we gave her one of ours that we could take the end off and at first she looked at it like we were crazy. It can't be a screwdriver without the end. But she took it after we said she could ask Santa for one of her one. Santa did bring her a screwdriver in her own tool box. Since then she got her glasses so now she carries around her glasses cleaner, her cloth to clean her glasses, sometimes a tissue to wipe her eyes (she usually needs her glasses cleaned after she's been crying), and 2 little bottles of nail polish that I say she can't open until she's 3 (Jeff isn't on board with that yet). No more screwdriver though. But lately she kept asking for money to put in her purse. I told her she needed to go to work to get money and she said she wants to stay home with me but she'll go to work when she's 3. So after her eye surgery this week she received a get well card from my Auntie Susie and she included a dollar in it for Emily. I told her that Auntie Susie was so proud of her when she went to the hospital that she send her the card and the money. She was so excited!! She ran to get her purse right away and was so happy to have her own money to put in her purse. She kept taking it out over the weekend and would show it to us. Jeff went to Lowes yesterday and Emily went along. They were leaving and had to run back and get her purse, and was so excited she had her own money to take to the store. Jeff said she kept taking it out and was so happy with her one dollar. Thank you Auntie Susie!!

Emily did great
We all made it though the day. Emily did so well and I am so proud of her. We both cried today but she never saw me crying and I was able to be hold her while she cried. She had a good morning and was happy to have 2 popsicles and some apple juice after she woke up. Then we went to the toy store and she was able to pick out a present for herself to have at the hospital. I think it all went well at the hospital until they took her out of my arms. She wasn't too happy to have to change into the hospital clothes but dealt with it. She was able to keep her blanket and baby with her the whole time so I think that helped. But about 10 minutes after she got the medicine that made her a little drowsy a (different) nurse came in and said it was time to go and asked if she could carry her. Of course she is going to say no. I hadn't prepared her for that part. I thought I would be able to go until she on the bed or something. She let me put her in the nurses arms and I could tell she wanted to cry but didn't and I couldn't if she wasn't going to. They walked down the hallway and as soon as they went through the doors, I lost it. The operation was less than 45 minutes but we didn't get to see her right away. The doctor said everything went great. Once they called us back to see her I could hear she was crying right away. Even after the nurse handed her over to me she cried for another 15 minutes or so. Not sure if it was the waking up from the anesthesia , her being scared (she did say later at home she was sad I wasn't there), or her eyes hurting. She would cry and want to rub one of eyes and she kept wanting to open them but I think it hurt to do that. After she finally calmed down she played with her new toy and we sat there for about a half hour before we went home. Once we got home she sat on my lap and played with her new toy (peg pounder) but after some juice she threw up some (burping is what she called it) and did that once again and hour later. Later she got a burst of energy but little things were upsetting her. She ate a lot for supper but got very tired after that and since she didn't touch her eyes at all once we were home we didn't need to put the arms splints on. She is sound asleep and hopefully she has a good night sleep. I told her we were going to the eye doctor tomorrow morning hoping she wasn't scared to go now (even though today wasn't at the office) and she asked to go back to the hospital. So not too scared then. I also told her that it will be my turn to go to the hospital next month when the baby comes out so we are all having our turns, except Stephanie. Way to go Emily, you were such a big girl today. So very proud of you. Love you so much!

Tomorrow is Emily's surgery
Emily will have her eye surgery tomorrow at 1:00. She is excited to go to the hospital but I don't think she knows what is really going to happen though. So far she knows she gets juice, popsicles, and jello for breakfast tomorrow morning. Then she gets to wear her "santa" jammies to the hospital and she can bring her blanket and baby and she'll take a little nap there after getting some medicine. She then knows she'll have eye drops like daddy has had this week once we get home. . Besides that I don't know what else to tell her to prepare her. She knows her eye doctor will be there and nurses will take her temperature and listen to her heart. She knows both Mommy and Daddy are going and Nanna is coming to stay with Stephanie while she has therapy in the afternoon. I am so much more nervous for her than she is. She doesn't know she is having surgery and what that even means so I've just told her that the eye doctor is going to fix her eyes just like daddy's eye last week. Jeff is still recovering but her recovery should be much shorter. They said she should be fine by the time we go back to the doctor office Wednesday morning. Once she wakes up from the surgery she should be a little cranky but they don't give kids anything more than tylenol for the pain. I found out last week that they are going to operate on the inside muscles both eyes. I hope this works and she isn't going to need anything else down the road. She will need her glasses for awhile and possibly the patch. She won't wear the patch for the first week so her eyes get use to working together but she may need it again if the right eye begins to wander again. Only time will tell with that. Emily has been very clingy lately and I'm not sure if she knows something is going on with the hospital talk or if it has more to do with the baby coming. She has been saying "I'm mommy's baby" all the time so I'm thinking it has to do with the baby coming. But because of her surgery coming up I have been babying her more and carrying her more. She still seems so little. But so brave. I know she'll be braver than me tomorrow. I love you little peanut.
