Jeff's surgery

Jeff went in this morning for his eye surgery. Since I have the kids here his parents came here early to take him. Very early, he had to be there at 6:20 this morning but as of now he should be able to come home soon. I heard from his mom an hour ago that the surgery went well and they were able to pull the eye muscle from the inside to straighten his eye. It was well enough that he doesn't need to go back this afternoon for any adjustments. We will go back tomorrow though for his post-op appointment and Emily's pre-op appointment. I am hoping he isn't going to be in too much pain but he is preparing himself for some pain and discomfort for the next few days. I am glad it went well and can't wait for him to come home.

Early mornings

Having Stephanie potty trained is wonderful but she likes it a little too much. She has been keeping herself dry at night but that means she has been waking up early because she has to go so badly. She usually does go right before bedtime but her therapy goes til about 6:00 every night so by the time we have dinner the girls, at least Stephanie, is off to bed shortly after she is done. So she has at least a glass a milk right before bedtime. I'm not sure how else to do it. She use to need a good 12 hrs of sleep and has been getting closer to 11- 11 1/2 (7:30-7ish) which is still a lot but I am not enjoying the early wake up calls. Especially when my days are limited with getting some sleep. I have been have no trouble getting comfortable and sleeping with the growing belly, it's been just the kids waking me up. I know I should just go to bed earlier but I would so much rather sleep from 12-8 than 10-6. I have never been a morning person. At least with the earlier wake ups she hasn't been too cranky/whiny so I can be happy with that at least. I know it could be worse.

3 Girls

With Stephanie potty trained and Emily wanting to do what Stephanie is doing, plus me being pregnant, we are all fighting over the bathroom. We usually all have to share the one downstairs since Jeff is sleeping upstairs and if I go up then they want to go up. Since this is still all new to Stephanie if she hears me going or hears the toilet flush she has to go and have her turn. So most often we are all in the bathroom and someone is waiting their turn. Not sure what we'll do if this next one is also a girl, the bathroom is pretty small. I figured I was years away from all of us fighting over the bathroom.

Emily's eye

Today Jeff and Emily went back to the eye doctor. Emily had been wearing her patch on her right eye for 4 hours a day for the last month. Once I was able to order a fabric patch that fit over her glasses there was no more battle and she would even ask for her patch in the morning. When she doesn't have the patch on I always see her right eye wander. I can't believe how fast it has gone from barely noticing it to have it happen all the time. We didn't see anything until October and now it is rarely looking straight at all. So the doctor wanted to see some improvement with the patching to continue it but, she also agreed that it was getting worse. So now Emily is scheduled for eye surgery on Feb 2. I can't believe it. Jeff is having his surgery (to correct his lazy eye) on Jan 28 and then Emily right away the next week. I just have to say that this baby better stay tight until close to the due date. I am already worried about Emily having surgery and worried about her getting anesthesia and explaining to her what is going on. Her recovery should be pretty quick but she will probably continue to wear the patch for a while after but we'll know more after her surgery. I've never had surgery and I'm having trouble thinking that Emily is going to. She so little but I know this is the best thing for her to correct it early on. She's been a trooper so far with the glasses and the patch so I know she'll do just fine.

Back at school

Stephanie made it through her first day at school in her new undies. She was a little unsure when we went in the bathroom when we got there and had a scared look on her face. I didn't stay long and the therapist is going to try to be with her tomorrow at school. She didn't want to sit on the toilet so I was scared to leave but knew the teachers are use to having kids newly potty trained so I hoped for the best. I was still a little surprised that I didn't get a call from the school. She did go in the bathroom a good dozen times and eventually did sit on it and asked for help when needed but never went. She went about 10 minutes after we got home. I was happy that at least she tried it and it will be more comfortable as she gets use to it. At least that is what I am hoping for. Thankfully at this point she is only at school for 2 1/2 hrs and we know she can hold it. She was dry again overnight and went to the bathroom as soon as she got up. I know she can do it but I'll feel better if the therapist is able to go tomorrow. Maybe that will make her more comfortable. We are back at most full training at home but later this week she get back to work at the table. There is still one therapist being trained so we all hoping she can trained by months end and then we will be up and running. Since she was getting all fun things and whatever she wanted in the bathroom (we have slowly gotten rid of that and rewards) she asks for her portable TV in there. She doesn't watch much on TV besides a few minutes of Elmo's World but has taken watching Annie. I couldn't be more happier. One of my all time favorite movies. Jeff isn't so keen on it but I love it. She loves all the little girls and the songs. I still remember all the songs and driving my brothers crazy singing the songs. Besides Elmo she's just not into the animated stuff so no princess movies for us here. Now we can work on getting Emily into undies. It would be nice to be diaper free for a couple months.
